Being in a party never directly influences your loot (but see 2.) 1. Protection against disconnects. The reason max party size is 5 is because dungeons are 5 players. GW2 doesnt really need a party system other than trying to locate each other. If your playing in a group of 6-8 just have 2 parties and stay together. Im pretty sure you map shows nearby players during events. If you create a party, feel free to enter fractals first. The Fractal LFG is a little archaic. If you exit Lion's Arch and zone back into the map you should get a prompt. If the game throws up some sort of error, that occasionally means that, for whatever reason, the LFG is getting mixed up between NA & EU. .
